CARDA would like to take this opportunity to extend our most sincere thank-you to all those that through the course of their lives touched ours in a very special way.
CARDA first met George when he assisted us at a winter course at Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops BC. At the start of the course George was "the cook" and by the end of that first day we had discovered a new friend. His overwhelming kindness and love for dogs made him an easy addition to the camp. As years passed and George's canine exposure grew we remember him as a man that any dog could train. We thank George for all of his efforts with CARDA and encourage everyone to live life to its fullest as could be witnessed by knowing this one man.
A Whistler resident and Level 2 Ski Instructor, Suzanne was a great friend of both the Whistler Mountain Ski Patrol and the Avalanche Rescue Dogs. Over the years Suzanne skied and hiked with her canine friends, often slipping them a doggie treat. To honour her memory at the time of her death, Suzanne's family and friends made donations to CARDA.
Paul was the brother in-law to Jack Bennetto, former CAA President and former Manager of the MOT highway avalanche program. Both Jack and his wife had a soft spot in their hearts for the CARDA program. After Paul was tragically killed in a diving accident, the family made a donation to CARDA and also requested donations in lieu of flowers at his service. They enquired if CARDA could create something in memory of Paul. CARDA established the Paul Thompson Memorial Award. This award is given to individuals within the CARDA organization in recognition of their dedication and commitment to CARDA.
